Monoprix S.A., a Clichy, France-based retailer, has teamed with Shekel Brainweigh Ltd., an Israel-based weighing technology provider, to introduce an AI-powered autonomous shopping system on a self-service retail concept to offer 24/7 service, according to an email from Shekel Brainweigh.
The 18-square-foot automated store, called Monop’, will offer more than 300 products, including snacking and hygiene items. Users will only need a credit card to enter the store and will validate their shopping basket before exiting. They will not need to pay a cashier.
The concept is only accessible to Monoprix employees but will be deployed at a public location by the end of the year.
Monoprix’s parent company, Group Casino, led the project in partnership with Shekel Brainweigh, Orika, Ingenico and CB Bank and card group, France’s national interbank network.
Shekel Brainweigh is a gold sponsor for the Self-Service Innovation Virtual Summit Dec. 8-9, and will sponsor the panel scheduled for 1:45 p.m. on Dec. 8, “The Future of Unattended Retail: Any Product, in Any Location.”
