Olga Miller, CEO, SmartPurse
Leading the way with financial support, coaching and practical tips, SmartPurse aims to change the world of finance for women, making conversation and education around money more accessible and inclusive for all women, regardless of their financial position or life stage.
Created by co-founders Jude Kelly CBE, voted most powerful woman in the Arts and founder of WOW – the Women of the World Festival, and Olga Miler, a leading innovator on women’s finances and former global program and architect of UBS Wealth Management’s change programme for women.
Seemingly never more relevant than now, in the face of a major economic downturn caused by the coronavirus pandemic, SmartPurse makes financial knowledge accessible and offers links to experts, all provided within a safe container, to discuss and learn about money from a particularly female life path perspective.
While there are many solutions, most of them focus on managing people’s money, often leading to an overwhelming number of choices. At SmartPurse, we focus on helping people to navigate a way through the financial options and advice, by equipping them with the knowledge and tools to make a conscious choice for themselves, no matter what their current life circumstances. We help women to find out what is right for them, understand how the products work, how they differ, what they do and what they don’t do. Ultimately, we make learning about money and getting a grip on your finances practical, accessible, affordable and fun, so that every woman can fit financial knowledge into their life.
By not understanding just how life-changing it is for us to manage money and plan long-term, we risk becoming financially disadvantaged, unless we take steps to learn, get support and develop our financial strategies, to suit our individual and unique lives. By considering the changes and challenges which often have a greater impact on women, including career breaks to have children, part-time working, relationships ending, we create tailored support and guidance to promote financial independence amongst women.
As more women than ever are now economically active, platforms which support them to be more successful and independent whilst doing so have never been more needed. Recent changes to the corporate and financial reporting of pay and the gender pay gap, also means that women’s value in the marketplace is subject to greater scrutiny. SmartPurse supports equality of pay and enablement to financial security and independence.
Since its inception, SmartPurse has developed a Digital Money School, instructor-led courses, and events all designed to inspire women to get a grip on their money. We’ve also created a group of financial experts (with more joining everyday) that we’ve trained in how women want to discuss & plan their money. Our no-jargon, no ads learning toolbox and our free ‘find an expert’ service is unique to the SmartPurse platform.
